2016 AOS Schedule

Arts on the Square opens Thursday with chalking, bike parade, concerts

Thursday, Aug. 18

2-5 p.m. – Chalking by youth around city square. Chalk provided.

4 p.m. – Meet at South Park to decorate bikes for the Children’s ARTBike Parade. Helmets are required for the parade to downtown.

6 p.m. – Waupaca Middle School concert on bandstand.

7-11 p.m. – Desperate Ottos on the deck at Simpson’s Restaurant.

Friday, Aug. 19

7-10:30 p.m. – Free street dance with the music of WiFEE and the HUZzBand under the Main Stage tent on Fulton Street. Fire spinner Broegy Pease will perform during the band’s break. Food, beer and soda will be available.

Saturday, Aug. 20

Main Stage
10– 11 a.m. – Johnny Dollar and his 4 Bits.

11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. – Tom Pease.

12:30–1:30 p.m. – Gray Catz.

1:45-2:45 p.m. – Eddie Biebel and Vickie Basar.

Poetry/Storytelling Stage

Community Art Project
Making tiles with the portable foundry metal tile iron pour. The $15 fee for this workshop will include a sandstone scratchblock, the use of tools to etch a design and instructions on how to keep and protect the metal tile from rust. This workshop will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis in the etching tent. Participants may return around 2 p.m. to watch the artists pour their scratch blocks full of metal. The tiles may be taken home shortly after they cool.

Workshops
Type-IN with poet Paul Wiegel; the sessions on manual typewriters will begin at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Paper will be supplied.

Pieceful Hands Quilters: all day.

Shuvani Emporium: all day.

We Love Waupaca! with St. Paul, Minnesota artist Martha Duerr; a workshop for adults and children ages 3 and up, it will be offered throughout the day.

Acrylic Painting on canvas with Waupaca artist Ashley Gordon; age 13 through adult may participate in this workshop, which will offer sessions from 11 a.m. to noon and from 2-3 p.m. Seating will be limited to 15 people per session. Sign up at the workshop booth.

The Mitten with Waupaca Area Public Library Exhibit Room staff – all day.

Badger’s Den Homebrew Club Demo Booth.

Sweet Potato Carving with the Waupaca Area Wood Carvers – all day.
