McNamara, Catherine Elizabeth

Cathy McNamaraCatherine Elizabeth McNamara, age 45, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016, due to injuries sustained from an auto accident earlier in the week.

She was born on March 8, 1971 in Ishpeming, Michigan, daughter to James and Doris (Mattson) McNamara. Cathy graduated from Escanaba High School in 1989. She then attended and graduated from Bay de Noc Community College in Escanaba, Michigan in 1993 with an Associate degree. Cathy enjoyed art, music, dancing, and helping others. She lit up every room she walked into. She absolutely loved to laugh and her laugh was infectious. If you were lucky enough to be Cathy’s friend, you had a friend for life. Not only was she a wonderful mother to her own children, she made it her life’s work to help other children too. She cared for and worked with children with special needs, through Caravel Autism Help. Cathy will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched.

She is survived by her mother, Doris McNamara; daughter, Samantha Yohr; sons, Garrett Yohr (father, Randall Yohr) and Ethan Breitenbach (father, Brian Beitenbach); siblings: Audrey Hermanson, Diane (Frank) Hartnett, Jeff McNamara, David McNamara, Pamela (Patrick) Foland, Michael (Melissa) McNamara, Steven McNamara, Brian (Mandy) McNamara, and Robert McNamara; nieces and nephews, Nathan and Jordan Hermanson, Frankie Jr. Hartnett, David Jr., Sheena, and Dillion (Cindy Kneevers McNamara) McNamara, Joshua and Kaitlan Foland, Megan, Morgan, and Moira McNamara, Brandon and Kaiti McNamara, Alex and Grace McNamara. Cathy is further survived by her aunt and uncle, Brian and Debbie McNamara; many cousins, other relatives and friends. Cathy is preceded in death by her father, James, and sister, Cheryl.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, (614 S. Bridge St.) Manawa, with Rev. Xavier Santiago officiating. Family and friends are welcome to visit at Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home, (176 N. Bridge St.) Manawa, on Monday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again directly at the church Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery, Town of Little Wolf. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
