Golfers take two losses

The Hortonville girls’ golf team lost to Kimberly 193-204 in the Polar Bears’ last home dual of the season at Grand View Golf Club on Thursday, Sept. 1.

Hortonville’s Bree Downie finished second with a score of 47, two strokes behind Kimberly’s Emma Carew.

Other Hortonville finishers: 4. Abby Nelson 49. 6. Maddie Quinn 51 (tie). 10. Ava Downie 57. 11. Halle Kalowitz 62. 12. Cara Byom 70.

Osh West 181, Hortonville 185
The Bears played a stronger game earlier in the week, finishing four strokes shy of Oshkosh West at home on Aug. 30.

Bree Downie won with a 38, followed by Abby Nelson with a 39. From there Oshkosh finished five consecutive golfers.

Hortonville Head Coach Kathy Kiger said the score was Hortonville’s best team finish and a close loss to the Fox Valley Association’s No. 1-ranked team.
