Pyatskowit cruises at Iola-Scandy invite

Winter sports club hosts meet

It’s early in the season and Clintonville’s Kara Pyatskowit is on a roll.

The senior cross country runner turned in a time of 18:53 Aug. 30 to win the girls’ race at the Iola-Scandinavia Invitational and had to wait nearly a minute before the next runner – I-S’s Erika Kisting – crossed the finish line at the Iola Winter Sports Complex.

Pyatskowit’s win helped Clintonville place second behind Freedom in the girls’ standings. The Irish made it a clean sweep by also claiming the boys’ championship.

Team scores for the girls were Freedom (32), Clintonville (92), Iola-Scandinavia (94), Wausau East (131), Winneconne (134), Lomira (154), Wittenberg-Birnamwood (165), Amherst (224), Weyauwega-Fremont (228), Bonduel (293), Seymour (332), Waupaca (392), Wabeno/Laona (410), Oconto (438) and Manawa (467). Marion and St. Mary Catholic had incomplete teams.

Team scores for the boys were Freedom (53), Seymour (71), Amherst (72), Wausau East (108), Bonduel (167), St. Mary Catholic 9201), Lomira (211), Wittenberg-Birnamwood (214), Waupaca (229), Winneconne (268), Menominee Indian (341), Oconto (372) and Wabeno/Laona (396). Iola-Scandinavia, Weyauwega-Fremont, Manawa and Gresham/Bowler had incomplete teams.
