T-Birds now 3-0

I-S holds Chargers to late TD

By Holly Neumann

Wittenberg-Birnamwood turned out to be not much of a match for the Iola-Scandinavia football team.

The Thunderbirds opened Central Wisconsin 8 Conference play Sept. 2 with a 45-7 win over the Chargers an improved to 3-0 on the season.

I-S took an early lead with a pair of Bryce Huettner touchdown runs in the first quarter.

Quarterback Jayden Sivertson and Kyle Jobke added to that score in the second quarter with Sivertson scoring two touchdowns. Jobke added the extra points and also kicked a 30-yard field goal to widen the gap to 31-0 at halftime.

The Sivertson/Jobke combination went on to score in each of the final two quarters to give the T-Birds a 45-0 lead.

Jack Stewart put the Chargers on the scoreboard with 1:50 to go in the game and Dalton Zeinert kicked the extra point.

After playing their first three games at home, the T-Birds will travel to Bonduel Friday, Sept. 9, for a CWC 8 contest with the Bears. Bonduel will also head into the game with a 3-0 mark after shutting out Weyauwega-Fremont 35-0 Sept. 2.
