New London wins nonconference match

By Scott Bellile

The New London Bulldogs defeated the Clintonville Truckers varsity volleyball team in a nonconference match Sept. 6.

The Bulldogs won set one 25-12, set two 25-15 and the final set 25-13.

Clintonville, which sat at 2-2 following the loss, is working to gain experience this fall. Senior Catherine Morse is the only returning varsity player, Truckers Head Coach Lindsay Davis said.

“I think that each week we are progressing as a varsity team,” Davis said. “With eight seniors graduating last year, we have a very young team, and we are advancing and moving forward each week. The ladies are growing into their positions and some are learning new positions. I am excited to see them continue to shape as a team as we get into the season.”

New London Head Coach Kristin Gustafson said the Bulldogs are a strong team this year that is looking to make a good run. The victory over Clintonville put the Bulldogs at 12-6 overall.

Clintonville stat leaders: Catherine Morse 15 assists, 1 serve ace. Kennedy Beyersdorf 6 attack kills, 1 block kill. Harmony Rice 5 attack kills, 1 block kill. Melany Lorge 3 attack kills.

New London stat leaders: Megan Kronser 15 assists. Camry Bigalke 11 assists. Leah Porath 10 kills, 4 blocks. McCoy Mix 12 digs.

Clintonville stat leaders: Lorge 4 attack kills, 1 serve ace. Morse 2 attack kills, 1 block kill. Rice 2 attack kills. Beyersdorf 1 block kill. Emma Weatherwax 1 block kill.

GB West match
NEW LONDON – New London beat Green Bay West in three sets in its first conference match of the season on Thursday, Sept. 8.
