New elementary teachers

New hires at Hortonville, Greenville schools

The following new teachers were hired by Hortonville Area School District to teach at Hortonville Elementary School (HES), Greenville Elementary School (GES) and North Greenville Elementary School (NGES).

Brinda Glatczak
Second grade Spanish, GES
Hometown: New London
Education: B.S.Ed. (pre-kindergarten through sixth grade), UW Oshkosh
Work experience: Catholic schools, pre-K through eighth grade
What do you enjoy the most about your job? “Helping children learn.”
What are your goals for this school year? “Have my second-graders speaking Spanish and have fun!”

Amanda School
Kindergarten, GES
Hometown: Appleton
Education: UW Milwaukee
Work experience: First-year teacher
What do you enjoy the most about your job? “Watching my students learn and grow as a class and individually.”
What are your goals for this school year? “Building positive relationships with my students, their families and my kindergarten team!”

Megan Van Hoof
First and second grade special education-intellectual disabilities, GES
Hometown: Marion
Education: B.S. in elementary education and special education, UW-Stevens Point
Work experience: Various grade levels in special education the last four years
What do you enjoy the most about your job? “I enjoy seeing kids have fun while learning and then not even recognizing they are working.”
What are your goals for this school year? “To meet new people and make a difference in the lives of my students and their families.”

Becky McMorrow

Hometown: Kimberly
Education: UW Oshkosh
Work experience: Teaching for over 14 years
What do you enjoy the most about your job? “I enjoy the opportunity to empower students to be their best.”
What are your goals for this school year? “To collaborate with teachers and help empower students.”

Courtney Vander Heiden

Hometown: Appleton
Education: UW Whitewater
Work experience: One year of special education in the village of Denmark
What do you enjoy the most about your job? “Being with the students!”
What are your goals for this school year? “Become more organized; building positive relationships with students, families and staff.”

Bonnie York

Hometown: Appleton
Education: Concordia University
Work experience: One year teacher (used to work in human resources)
What do you enjoy the most about your job? “The relationships built with students, colleagues and the community.”
What are your goals for this school year? “Building positive relationships with students, staff and families.”

Robert Kramer
Kindergarten music, GES
Hometown: Lannon
Education: B.S.Ed., Martin Luther College; M.Mus., Southern Oregon University
Work experience: 35 years
What do you enjoy the most about your job? “Teaching music!”
What are your goals for this school year? “Learning more about kindergarten.”

Tressa Verber
Kindergarten art, GES
Hometown: Hortonville
Education: B.A., St. Norbert College; MAT, Chaminade University
Work experience: Substitute, Fox Valley area districts
What do you enjoy the most about your job? “Igniting passion for art, encouraging creativity.”
What are your goals for this school year? “Building relationships with students and staff, building fundamental skills in art.”

Chris Cherney
Intermediate literacy coach, NGES
Hometown: Oconto
Education: B.S./M.S., UW Oshkosh, reading specialist from Concordia University
Work experience: 19 years classroom teacher, six years literacy coach
What do you enjoy the most about your job? “It’s all about the kids. It’s so rewarding to see their smiles and eyes light up as they share their writing or their thoughts about reading.”
What are your goals for this school year? “Relationships are so important. This year will be getting to know the Hortonville community members, students and staff.”

Emily Komas
Fourth grade, NGES
Hometown: Appleton
Education: UW Oshkosh (undergrad) and University of Colorado Boulder (master’s)
Work experience: Teaching kindergarten through fourth grade in surrounding areas, most recently in the School District of New Berlin
What do you enjoy most about your job? “The kids!”
What are your goals for this school year? “I look forward to making strong connections to the students and families of NGES.”

Jill Ihde
First grade, NGES
Education: UW Milwaukee
Work experience: Oak Creek, Milwaukee
What do you enjoy the most about your job? “Students growing.”
What are your goals for this school year? “Getting to know staff and school families.”

Allison White
Fourth grade, NGES
Hometown: Elkhorn
Education: UW Madison
Work experience: Sheboygan Area School District (special education)
What do you enjoy the most about your job? “Building relationships with students and teachers.”

Angie Schumaker
Kindergarten, NGES
Hometown: St. Johns, Michigan; residing in Hortonville
Education: Michigan State University
Work experience: 10 years kindergarten in Menasha
What do you enjoy the most about your job? “Seeing the growth in students.”
What are your goals for this school year? “Guide students towards academic achievement and positive peer relationships.”

Katelyn Van Handel
Special education-intellectual disabilities, HES
Hometown: Appleton
Education: UW Oshkosh
Work experience: First-year teacher
What do you enjoy the most about your job? “Celebrating student accomplishments, helping them learn new things and knowing I’m making a difference.”
What are your goals for this school year? “To get to know my students.”
