Bricco, Aloysius J. ‘Loy’

loy-briccoLoy J. Bricco, age 86, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 peacefully at home after a lingering illness.

He was born on August 11, 1930 to the late Leo and Mabel Bricco in Bear Creek. He was united in marriage on April 20, 1949 to Lorraine Spoehr at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bear Creek. He worked for Outagamie County Highway Department for 40 years. He was a grader operator for 25 years and a Crew Foreman for 15 years, retiring in 1990. He was very involved in his community. In 1952 he joined the Bear Creek Fire Department and served as Fire Chief from 1962 until 1986. He continued as a member of the fire department for many years thereafter. He served on the Village Board as a trustee for many years. Loy was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose Clintonville Lodge. Loy had a passion for snowmobiling and was instrumental in starting the Trail and Track Snowmobile Club. He was an antique car enthusiast. He frequented many car shows with his 1928 Model A Ford (Jesse) once owned by his parents and his 1951 Ford truck (Orville). He was an avid hunter. Loy and Lorraine spent many winters in Florida to get away from the cold, enjoying the company of their snowbird friends. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bear Creek. Loy was actively involved in the parish as an altar server his entire life. He served on the Cemetery Committee for 20 years, as a Festival Chairman and numerous other projects. He was honorably discharged from the Wisconsin National Guards and also served as a Boy Scout Leader. Loy loved to be with his family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Loy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lorraine; a daughter, Sandy (Tim) Wanta; a son, Randy (Jill) Bricco; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Bricco; six granddaughters: Michelle (Steve) Stang, Mandy Jensen, Melanie Chally (Troy Bork), Pollyanna (Jason) Knapp, Pascha (Gordon) Zietlow, Mariah (Adam) Pringnitz; 13 great-grandchildren: Hannah (Lucas) Boldt, Luke Jarchow, Jacob Malliet, Paige Delrow, Breanna Delrow, Hope Bricco, Bryce Chally, Hunter Knapp, Morgan Knapp, Gracie Zietlow, Brodie Zietlow, Brock Pringnitz, Dannica Pringnitz; a great-great-grandson, Landon Boldt due in February; sisters-in-law: Romona Murray and Norma (Bill) Novcaski; a brother-in-law, Bill (Gail) Spoehr; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry; brothers: Domain (Eunice), Leonard (Margie) and John; sisters: Fern (John) Lorge, Gladys (John) Martin, Irene (Bob) VanAdestine and Florence (Bob) Mathewson; an infant brother and sister, and a brother in-law, Leland Murray.

A Funeral Mass in celebration of Loy’s life will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bear Creek. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Bear Creek Prayer Garden.
