George W. Golding, age 98, passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2016.
He was born July 4, 1918 in Ardmore, IL, the son of Edward and Katherine (Willard) Golding. On December 26, 1946, George married Arlene Anderson in Oshkosh. He was a mechanic with the Waupaca County Highway Department for 37 years. He was a member of the Parfreyville United Methodist Church.
George is survived by his wife of 69 years, Arlene; children, Doug (Sue) Golding of Waupaca and Sherry (Keith) Timm of Manawa; eight grandchildren: Haley (Richard) Nelson, Travis (Jaki) Golding, Jessica Golding (special friend, Eric), Kari (Jeff) Morack, Rikki (Nate) Regan, Courtny (Chad) Dolphin, Whitney (Matt) Rohan, and Ashley (Luke) Gustafson; great-grandchildren: Rhett, Rhylee, Autumn, Jacob, Alyssa, Charlie, and Boden; and a sister, Helen Fenzel of Oshkosh. George is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce E. Golding; brother, Edward (Mable) Golding; and sisters, Dorothy (Ralph) Porter and Priscilla (Robert) Preusser.
The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Maple Crest Funeral Home, with Brenda Hewitt officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Sheridan Cemetery, Town of Farmington, Wisconsin.
