By Robert Cloud

Caroline Murphy and Joel Bartel will face off in the race for Farmington town chair.

Two candidates will also be on the ballot for the position of supervisor 2.

Mark Jensen and Philip Durrant are running for the Farmington Town Board.

Craig Nelson is running unopposed for supervisor 1.

The candidates were nominated at the Farmington Town Caucus on Jan. 18.

At the caucus, Murphy received 27 votes, Bartel garnered 15 and Kathy Kasza got eight.

The two candidates receiving the most votes will appear on the April 4 ballot.

In the nominations for supervisor 2, town electors cast 26 votes for Durrant, 16 for Jensen and six for Demetri Drivas.

Murphy is the incumbent town chair. She was appointed to the position at the Dec. 19 Farmington Town Board meeting, following the resignation of Kevin Will.

At the same meeting, Durrant took over Murphy’s seat as supervisor 2.

Bartel was elected to the Farmington Town Board in the spring 2009 election, defeating then-incumbent Eugene Engebretson.
In 2011, Engebretson defeated Bartel, 660 to 440.
