Head Start enrollment underway in Waupaca

CAP Services’ Waupaca Head Start program is now accepting applications for the 2017-18 school year.

Head Start is an early childhood and family development program for families with children ages 3 to 4.

The program also serves children with disabilities ages 3 to 4.

Head Start provides educational, health, nutritional, social and emotional services for each child and offers support and family development services to all family members.

Classes are in session six hours per day, four days per week.

The Waupaca Head Start program is collaborating with the Waupaca School District to provide Head Start and 4-year-old kindergarten at the Waupaca Head Start Center, 101 Tower Road, Waupaca.

The program offers both center-based and home-based program options for children ages 3 to 4.

A home-based Early Head Start for pregnant mothers and children ages 0 to 3 is also available, with a center-based option for children who are 2.

Applications are currently being accepted for children from the Waupaca, Rural, Weyauwega, Fremont, Ogdensburg and Iola-Scandinavia areas at the Waupaca Head Start Center.

An appointment is necessary.

Parents are encouraged to call for an appointment to apply as soon as possible as enrollment is limited.

They may call the Waupaca Head Start Center at 715-258-9575, Extension 208.

Families interested in Early Head Start may call 715-258-9575, Extension 207.

Families must meet federally established income guidelines and are asked to bring income verification to their appointment.

Families whose children have a documented disability are also encouraged to apply.

Every effort is made to provide transportation but due to special circumstances, that may not always be possible.

CAP Services is a private, nonprofit community action agency that has been advancing social and economic justice for low-income people in Marquette, Outagamie, Portage, Waupaca and Waushara counties since 1966.
