Crash leads to injury

A rural Waupaca man was seriously injured after an 11-year-old boy drove into him with a pickup truck.

At about 10:13 p.m. Monday, March 20, the Waupaca County Communications Center received a call regarding an injured pedestrian on the N1900 block of County Trunk E in the town of Lind.

Upon arrival, officers found a 31-year-old man breathing but unresponsive. He was transported to ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca, then airlifted to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.

Deputy Chad Repinski reported the boy had been operating the truck on the property with no other occupants.

The truck travelled in reverse from the driveway into the garage, striking the man and crashing through the garage’s back wall.

UPDATE: The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office identified the adult male victim as Tony Peterson.
