Hortonville’s head coach Paul Everett previewed the 2017 Polar Bear girls’ soccer season by answering 10 questions.

Number of years coaching the team: 9

Returning varsity athletes: Gabriella Metten (12), AnnMarie Vandenelzen (12), Kayla Clark (12), Hannah Goulet (12), Katie Guyette (12), Kaylee Daniels (12), Olivia Pepper (12), Lauren Mertz (11), Maggie Tews (11), Brenna Welch (10), Caitlyn Mohr (10) and Josie Lippert (10).

Athletes to watch: All the above.

Team goals/expectations: We are looking to improve on each season as it comes.

Team’s strengths: Enthusiasm, hard working and having fun.

Team’s weaknesses: We are a young team, so don’t have the experience yet.

Teams to beat in conference: All teams in the FVA will be hard.

Biggest game/meet on the schedule: Appleton North and Kimberly.

What you want your athletes to get out of this season: To have a fun experience playing high school soccer. I want them to look back and remember the team and all the hard work they did while having fun.

Why fans should be excited for this team: We are a growing program and still adapting to the FVA and coping with the bigger schools. I think the fans will see the hard work the girls are putting in and the smiles on their faces.
