Bonnell, Arden James

“Death is not an ending. It is a door which opens to a new existence.”

Arden James Bonnell, of Waupaca, WI, a quiet, kind, gentle, devoted family man passed away peacefully early Monday, June 19, 2017 holding the hand of Dorothy Ann, his bride of almost 63 years.

Arden was born in Waupaca, WI on December 8, 1932, the son of Dorena and Lester Bonnell, in their home on Pine Street. He married Dorothy Ann Haight on July 10, 1954 and their only child Dennis completed their family. He was an active member of the Parfreyville United Methodist Church for 56 years. In addition, Arden was a member of the Green Bay Beja Shrine and a Member of the local Masonic Lodge. Arden divided his time for many years between two places he loved best: his home in Waupaca and his cottage near the shores of Rolling Stone Lake. He treasured spending time at his cottage with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his son, Dennis (Terrell); three grandsons, Jason (Abbey), Kyle, and Alexander (Anna); and five great-grandchildren, Zach, Aiden-Leigh, Addilynn, and Freyja Ann. Another great-grandson will be born in July. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce (Ron) Kalata. As well as many nieces and nephews. Arden was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Dorena; five brothers, Duwain, Lavern, Kenny, Leon, and Allen; and one great-grandson, Carter.

As per his request, a private inurnment will be held at the Parfreyville Cemetery with the Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations can be sent in Arden’s name to the Parfreyville United Methodist Church (N1979 County Road K) or the Waupaca Masonic Lodge 123.

The family would like to thank Gold Cross EMTs, ThedaCare Emergency room and ThedaCare Hospice for their help and support during this time. Their efforts were greatly appreciated.

Arden, I’m so blessed to have had you in my life and I can’t wait until I see you again. Your best friend and your wife, Dorothy.
