Thunderstorm headed into southern Waupaca County

A weather advisory for southern Waupaca County was issued at 11:52 a.m. Wednesday.

Dopplar radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm seven miles northwest of Waupaca and two miles south of Iola, moving southeast at 15 mph.

Pea-size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm, according to the National Weather Service Office in Green Bay.

Brief torrential rainfall and frequent dangerous lightning is also likely with this storm.

Locations impacted include Waupaca, Chain O’ Lakes area, New London, Fremont, Weyauwega, Royalton, Manawa, Iola, Scandinavia And Ogdensburg.

People at Iola Car Show grounds should consider seeking safe shelter.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding.

The weather advisory is expected to reamain in effect until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
