Hansen, Janet M. (Young)

Janet M. (Young) Hansen, age 84 of Clintonville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Aster Retirement Community in Clintonville.

Janet was born on February 9, 1933 in Oshkosh, WI as the daughter of the late Thorlief and Mildred (Townsend) Thompson. When Janet was 10 years old her family moved to Shawano for four years and then to Clintonville where she graduated from high school. On April 30, 1952 she was united in marriage to Duaine Young. The couple raised eight children prior to Duaine’s passing in 1986. Janet was employed at Seagrave FWD in Clintonville for a couple of years and was an exceptional homemaker; taking care of her children as well as helping care for neighborhood children. Later, Janet was united in marriage to Lyle Hansen in Clintonville. Janet was a faithful member of the Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville where she was a member of the Sarah Circle. Janet was a member of the Chatty Neighbors Homemakers Club, was a 4-H Leader, and enjoyed playing Canasta. She loved any kind of music, plays, concerts, and of course traveling to Branson, MO. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and working with ceramics. Janet will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She always liked attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and plays.

Survivors include: her husband, Lyle Hansen; children: Kathleen Conto, Karen (Don) Heiman, Daniel (Jan) Young, Diane (Dean) Knaack, Lorna (Rick) Tiberg, Patricia (Gary) Ruhle, and Pamela (Kurt) Barnes; Lyle’s children, Denise (Galen) Wadzinski and Bryan Hansen; grandchildren: Matthew (Connie), Ethan (Ashley), Rebecca, Anastasia, Anthony, Kyle Trisha, Erica, Michael, Tim (Mindy), Andrew (Meghan), Tyler (Tiffany), Jeremy (Amber), Jason (April), Jonathan (Kelly), Benjamin (Kristin), Angela (Jason), Ryan, Cameron (Elizabeth), Kyle, Trisha, Ethan (Meredith), Stuart, McGyver, and Gigi; great-grandchildren: Blake, baby Conto due in November, Taylin, Cade, Leah, baby Heiman due in 3 weeks, Cody, Andrew, Natalie, Grant, Ellie, Evelyn, Jackson, Iris, Riella, Maverick, Colton, and Kaden; Lyle’s nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Knute (Carolyn) Thompson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Donald (Alice) Young, Gerard (Ann) Mares, as well as Lyle’s extended family. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duaine Young, a daughter Connie Young, a granddaughter Danielle Tiberg, a son-in-law John Conto, a nephew Greg Thompson, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Jack (Joyce) Suelflow, Evelyn Young, and Everett (Helen) Pierre.

Janet’s funeral service will be held Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 4 p.m. at the Bethany Evangelical Free Church in Clintonville due to renovations at Christus with Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Those attending the service must use the Anne Street entrance due to Main Street road construction. Inurnment will be at a later date at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bear Creek. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials for Janet can be directed to the Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville or to any cancer research.
