Mára Berkans (nee Grintals) passed away peacefully on June 28 at the age of 83.
Mára was born on February 28, 1934 and grew up in Riga, Latvia. She came to Wisconsin in 1956.
Preceded in death by her husband Janis Berkans and brother Ivars. Survived by her sister Vija, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 23 at the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1853 N. 75th St., Wauwatosa, WI 53213, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
