Groholski, Darryl “Dick” Richard

Darryl “Dick” Richard Groholski, age 73, Iola, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday August 12, 2017 at his home due to a heart attack.

Darryl was born on December 14, 1943 in Milwaukee. The son of the late Daniel and Mabel (Armatoski) Groholski. He is survived by his loving wife Gail (Stoltz). They were married on November 24, 1962 in Milwaukee. Darryl retired from Ladish Drop Forge Company of Cudahy in 1992. The couple then owned and operated Northland Ballroom until 2005. Darryl enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Darryl, A.K.A. Papa, Uncle Dick and Uncle Fun, welcomed all his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and treated them as his own grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Gail of Iola; children, Darryl Jr. of Iola and Deena (Dominic who he loved like a son) Sciortino of Amherst; his only granddaughter Avigail, who was the joy of his life; two brothers, Alfred “Fritz” of Amherst and Daniel (Janice) of Milwaukee; brother-in-law David “Butch” (Linda) Stoltz of Milwaukee; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Eagle in Michigan and Barbara Stoltz of Milwaukee. In addition to his parents, Darryl was preceded in death by one brother, Frederick; one sister, Rose Marie and many other loved ones.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, town of Norrie, Marathon County. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday from 12 noon until the time of service all at the funeral home.
