Donna Marie Janis, age 87, passed away at Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in King, with her family by her side, following a long struggle with Alzheimers Disease, on Monday, September 18, 2017.
Donna was born on November 8, 1929 to the late Gustave and Mabel (Pettit) Thomack in Royalton. Donna was united in marriage to John Janis on June 14, 1952. He preceded her in death in 1980. Donna enjoyed crocheting, gardening and being outdoors. She served her country in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Arlene Berberich, New London; sons, John Janis, Las Vegas and Jay (Judy) Janis, Neenah; grandchildren, Christopher, Christina and Anastasia and sister, Rose Kolbe, New London. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Jim, Ken and Roy and two sisters, Jean and Lula.
The funeral for Donna will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lebanon. Fr. John Kleinschmidt will be officiating. Visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London and again from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church Friday. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Lebanon with full military honors. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Alzheimers Association.
