Where to obtain passports

Citizens may acquire passports at the courthouse.

“Our office is the only passport acceptance agency in Waupaca County,” Waupaca County Clerk Jill Lodewegen said. “Our office is on the first floor of the courthouse and is happy to help you through the process.”

Lodewegen said it is important to understand what is required to obtain a passport.

“For example, children under 16 must be accompanied by both parents and each must have picture ID,” she said. “If that is not possible or you have other passport related questions, you can go to www.travel.state.gov for detailed information.”

For basic applications, the best way for travellers to know what they need to bring is to visit the Waupaca County website at www.co.waupaca.wi.us and click on County Clerk under the department tab. “There is a link for passports that details what you will need to bring in with you. Or call our office at 715-258-6203 and we would be happy to review what is required with you.

Lodewegen said citizens must do passport renewals on their own.

“However we do have forms and can explain that process to you if you need help,” she said.

Estimated time to complete an application process is 15-20 minutes.

The County Clerk’s office is open 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays (excluding holidays).

Those seeking passports should arrive 15 to 30 minutes before the courthouse closes.

Lodewegen also would like schools and other large groups that special hours may be available for them if they are applying at one time.

“Just give us a call and we would be happy to discuss options,” she said.
