Trail walks planned

Living the Waupaca Way will sponsor Walktober on the four Saturdays in October.

All are invited to walk along one of the trails in the community.

Each walk begins at 9 a.m., with the participants choosing how long or far they want to walk.

Water and light refreshments will be provided.

The Saturday, Oct. 7 walk will be on a segment of the River Ridge Trail at Swan Park.

Walkers should meet in the park’s parking lot, at 909 Brainard’s Drive.

The Saturday, Oct. 14 walk is on the Wau-King Trail.

Those who want to participate in that walk should meet in the parking lot by the Waupaca Community Garden and soccer fields, off of King Road.

On Saturday, Oct. 21, the walk is on the River Ridge Trail segment at Riverside Park.

Walkers should meet in the park’s parking lot, at 1600 Royalton St.

The final walk is on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Quarry Trail.

Participants should meet in its parking lot, at 879 N. Oak St.

Living the Waupaca Way supports the Farm to Table Dinner, Farm to School, Waupaca Farm Market and working with organizers of local events to help them provide healthier menu options.

Its mission is to coordinate and empower community groups to enhance overall health through good nutrition and physical activity.
