‘Light up Fremont’

A parade, tree lighting, visit with Santa and soup tasting will be part of this year’s “Light up Fremont.”

The event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 25.

It will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the parade, followed by the tree lighting at village hall and then Santa and Mrs. Claus inside village hall, as well as the soup tasting and other food.

This the third year the Fremont Wolf River Fire Department is backing some of the “Friends of Fremont” to bring back the parade and tree lighting and combine them into one event.

Last year, they decided to work with the Fremont Area Historical Society to include the tree lighting ceremony that honors a Fremont family into this event.

They believe it is nice to have the community come together for one event rather than separate events.

In addition to the soup contest and visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, the fire department will give out free hot dogs. St Paul’s Youth Group will have free hot cocoa and the Webfooter Water Ski Shows will have free cookies.

All of that will take place in the village hall, following the tree lighting.

Families may bring their cameras to take pictures of their children with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Businesses and residents are encouraged to help “Light up Fremont” by entering a float in the parade.
