Moe, Elaine B.

Elaine B. Moe, age 86, passed away peacefully at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin on Friday, November 17, 2017.

Elaine was born March 13, 1931 to Leo and Erna Wohlrabe in the Town of Union. She married James A. Moe on November 15, 1947 in Symco, Wisconsin.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 70 years, James; children, Helen (Paul) Wagabaza of Middleton, WI; Sharon (James) Cook of House Springs, MO; Gary Moe of Holmen, WI; Nancy (Joseph) Polakowski of Milwaukee, WI; Dennis (Terri) Moe of Oshkosh, WI, and Carrie (Greg) Mumford of Fond du Lac, WI; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is further survived by her brother, Melvin Wohlrabe; and four sisters, Elna Knickerbocker, Norma Sutton, Lola Beyersdorf, and Jean Much, all residing in Wisconsin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kenneth Wohlrabe; a daughter-in-law, Diana Moe; and a great-grandson, Ethan Moe.

Elaine was a member of the Waupaca Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Most of her life was spent as a homemaker and mother in the Scandinavia and Waupaca area. She enjoyed gardening, canning, trying new recipes, and playing cards. A favorite of all the kids were her homemade cinnamon rolls and cookies. The grandchildren loved her pickles.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, E. 3273 Apple Tree Lane, Waupaca, WI. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. to be followed by the memorial service. The Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca is assisting the family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Veterans Home and ThedaCare Hospice Services for their warm and tender care of Elaine.
