Dayton’s Historical Committee will celebrate the town’s 165th anniversary from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at the town hall, N2285 State Highway 22.

Dayton split off from the town of Lind on Dec. 7, 1852.

The free event will include a display of vintage artifacts and short presentations about the town’s diverse cultural areas, including Hartman Creek State Park, cemeteries, churches, the Chain O’ Lakes, the temperance-oriented Camp Cleghorn and the hamlets of Crystal Lake Corners and Rural.

The town’s Trails Committee will hold drawings for four 2018 passes for Hartman Creek.

Only those who answered a trails survey earlier this year are eligible for the drawing. Winner need not be present to win.

Light refreshments will be served.

A free brochure that locates points of historic interest will be available.

People may volunteer for the event, or receive further information, by contacting Committee Chair DeLayne Greene at 715-258-8749.
