Flu shots for children

Vaccine available at courthouse

Waupaca County Public Health will give free influenza vaccines to children in grade 4K through age 18 from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at the courthouse, second floor, 811 Harding St., Waupaca.

“This outreach also serves as a functional preparation exercise for a mass clinic event using Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Public Health Emergency Preparedness funding, State-supplied vaccine and guidelines” said Health Officer Jed Wohlt.

The flu vaccine is offered at no cost to school-age children, while supplies last.

Any child, regardless of county residence, may receive the shot.

Parent or guardian (or responsible adult with written parental consent) must be present with their child to receive the vaccination.

Appointments are not needed because this service is a walk-in clinic.

CDC recommends influenza vaccination every year as the best protection against flu-like illness.
