Kurki scores big for T-Birds

Connor Kurki had the hot hand for Iola-Scandinavia with a game-high 27 points Dec. 14 in the Thunderbirds’ 82-45 Central Wisconsin Conference East Division boys’ basketball win over Weyauwega-Fremont.
The T-Birds took a 43-12 lead into the locker room at halftime behind Kurki’s 17 of points and nine from Charlie Stockwell.
Drew Vandervest scored all of his team-high 14 points for the Indians in the second half.
I-S improved to 3-3 on the season with the win.
Stockwell and Kellan Wandtke also finished in double figures for the T-Birds with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Both teams have East Division games scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 19. I-S will head to Shiocton, while W-F will host Menominee Indian.
