Keller, Alfred “Al” F.

Alfred “Al” F. Keller, age 97 of Clintonville, passed away early Tuesday morning December 19, 2017 at his residence at Aster Assisted Living of Clintonville.

Alfred “Al” Fredrick Keller was born May 13, 1920 in Plainfield, WI, son of the late Joseph and Auguste (Roehlich) Keller. The family moved to Royalton in 1923 and then to a farm in the Town of Matteson in 1926. He attended Evergreen School and later Clintonville High School. Al was confirmed at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville in 1935, where he was also a current member. He was united in marriage to LaVerne Jannusch on September 2, 1944 and they operated the family farm until it was sold. In 1948, Al joined his brothers Carl and Bill in the business known as Keller’s Appliance Shop, Clintonville. He worked in sales and bid on the electrical contracts; semi-retiring in 1991. He was an active member of Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville and was involved with the Christus Brotherhood. He served on the Board of Directors for the Clintonville Chamber of Commerce, church council, Boy Scout Troop 28, and Water & Light Commission. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, traveling, cards, and spending time at his cottage on the Wolf River.

Survivors include: daughters, Barbara Keller, Vail, CO and Brenda Keller, River Falls; sons, Gary (Mary) Keller, Clintonville and Gregg (Toni) Keller, Clintonville; grandchildren: Mark Keller, Matthew (Jodi) Keller, Marie (Shawn) Luther, and Nicholas Keller, all of the Clintonville area; Josh (Megan) Bennett, Hudson; and Erin (Jason) Heinrichs, River Falls; great-grandchildren: Courtney Keller, Mason Keller, Shelby Keller, Kelsey Keller, Damion Jonsson, Brytan Keller, Silas Heinrichs, and Mari Bennett; and sister-in-law, Faye Keller, Clintonville. Al was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaVerne; sisters, Elizabeth (Irving) Johnson, Helen (Willard) Bartel, and Delores (Kermit) Sieber; brothers, William (Cora Belle) Keller and Carl Keller; and a daughter-in-law, Joan Kremer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth (Milton Mavis and George) Nuske, Tress (Elmer) Froemming, Albert (Marie) Jannusch, Mildred (Hayward) Millard, Roy (Barbara) Jannusch, and Raymond (Dorothea) Jannusch.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville with the Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville in the spring. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Al’s name are preferred to Christus Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St. Clintonville, WI 54929.
