Wolves place second

Manawa has three champion wrestlers

Three individual champions helped the Manawa wrestling team place second at the Manawa Invitational Jan. 6.

Colten Klemm, Kevin Klemm and Zach Johnson placed first at 106, 113 and 170 pounds, respectively.

Stratford won the tournament with 199.5 points, followed by Manawa (167.5), Winneconne (117.5), Elcho (78.5), Tri-County (76), Crivitz (68.5), Oconto (45), Montello (35) and Clintonville/Marion (31).

Colten Klemm handed Winneconne’s Gavin Coshenet a 16-9 loss in the championship match at 106, Kevin Klemm pinned Stratford’s Benno Wenzel in 3:24 in the 113 final and Johnson pinned Crivitz’s Ezekial Lawrence in 1:17 at 170.

Tyler Pynenberg made the 126-pound final for the Wolves, but was pinned by Winneconne’s Anthony Keuntjes in 1:27.

Also placing for the Wolves were Thomas Pelzer (third, 120); Bryan Griffin (third, 132); Garrett Bristol (third, 145); Peyton Schuelke, fourth, 106); Colin Moser (fourth, 152); Isaac Ratliff (fourth, 182); Andrew Elmhorst (fourth, 220); Kaylee Truax (fourth, 285); Hunter Westphal (fifth, 138); Eli Yoder (fifth, 160); Jordan Kons (fifth, 195); and Tanner Peters (sixth, 138).

The Wolves will resume their Central Wisconsin Conference dual meet schedule at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at Pittsville before heading to North Fond du Lac Saturday, Jan. 13, for an invitational that includes teams from North Fond du Lac/St. Mary’s Springs, Fond du Lac, Horicon, Johnson Creek, Kiel, Markesan, Marshall, Waterloo, Waukesha North, Waukesha South, Waupun, West Bend East and Xavier. Matches are scheduled to get underway at 8 a.m.
