Mustangs, Foxes get wins

Little Chute and Fox Valley Lutheran picked up recent North Eastern Conference girls’ basketball wins over Waupaca.

Little Chute handed the Comets a 55-32 loss Feb. 2 and Waupaca also came out on the short end of a 58-39 score Jan. 30 to the Foxes.

The Mustangs outscored the Comets 25-14 in the first half and 30-18 in the second.

Savannah Wehmeyer and Seattle Lettau led Waupaca with 10 points each, while Little Chute’s Hannah VandenBerg led all players with 22.

FVL 58, Waupaca 39
WAUPACA – Emma Smidt scored a game-high 24 points, but the Comets still came up short against FVL.

Smidt’s second of her five three-pointers gave Waupaca an early 11-8 lead, but the Foxes closed the first half with a 27-11 run to take a 38-19 lead at the break.

Both teams scored 20 points in the second half.

Bailey Jacobsen led three FVL players in double figures with 17 points.

Waupaca has road games at Freedom, Denmark and Marinette before returning home Tuesday, Feb. 13, to host Wrightstown for Parents Night.
