Rodgers scores career high in victory

New London advances in regionals

Brady Rodgers scored a career-high 19 points in the New London boys’ basketball team’s 72-49 home win over Waupaca in the WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinals on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

The Bulldogs came into the game as the sixth-seeded team in the region against No. 11 seed Waupaca.

The Comets scored the game’s first two points before New London went on a 16-0 run, and another 8-0 run gave the Bulldogs a 24-3 lead in the first half.

New London went into halftime ahead 39-15.

The Bulldogs led by at least 18 points throughout the second half, and their largest lead was 27 points in the victory.

New London’s Will Wohlt added 11 points, while Brayden Kurth and Brennan Stroesenreuther each had 10 points.

New London will play No. 3 seed Lakeland Union on the road in the regional semifinals Friday, March 2 at 7 p.m.
