Platte, Frances “Percy” (nee: Rossey)

Frances “Percy” Platte (nee: Rossey), age 95 of Appleton, formerly of New London, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Theda Care Hospital in Appleton.

She was born on October 28, 1922 in New London, daughter of the late Clifford and Gladys (Werner) Rossey. On October 16, 1948, she was united in marriage to Herman Platte in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death in 1997. Percy received her nursing degree in 1944 at the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She served her country with the U.S. Navy Nurse Corp. from 1944 -1946 earning the rank of Ensign when honorably discharged. Percy worked as a registered nurse in the New London area for 40 years. She was a longtime Member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London and their Senior Sodality. Percy loved golfing, and was a member and past President of the New London Golf Course, now Shamrock Heights, for over 50 years. She never passed up an opportunity to dance; she also enjoyed reading, hand crafts, gardening and dining out.

Survivors include a sister Nancy Sutton, Zion, IL and 26 nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Grace Fournier.

A Memorial Mass for Percy will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Residence Chapel (107 E. Beckert Road) in New London with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Percy’s faith was important to her; please make donations to Most Precious Blood School or the Old Glory Honor Flights.
