Parra, Ignacio “Poncho”

Ignacio “Poncho” Parra, age 76, of Almond, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Nov. 29, 1941 in Laredo, TX, the son of Wencelado and Santos (Vasquez) Parra. Ignacio was joined in marriage to Dawn (Van Veghel) Parra in Wautoma, WI on July 13, 1966. He was a very hard-working man, known for being good with his hands. One of his biggest passions in life was collecting and rebuilding old collector cars and trucks. He was employed with the Waupaca Foundry for 37 years. Ignacio was the type of man who would help anybody without hesitation and held his family very close to his heart. He also enjoyed camping and spending time with those he loved.

Ignacio is survived by his wife, Dawn Parra of Almond, WI; a daughter, Wendy (Philip Maccracken) Parra of Almond, WI; a grandson, Andrew Parra of Almond, WI; a sister, Juanita Solano of Laredo, TX; a nephew, David (Lori) Parra of Waupaca, WI; one great-granddaughter, Macy Mccracken; many nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends.

No formal services are planned at this time per Ignacio’s wishes. There will be a private burial held in the Spring of 2018 at St. Martin’s Catholic Cemetery in Almond, WI. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the nurses and doctors at St. Michael’s (Ascension) Hospital for all the smiles, jokes, laughter, and the special care that you gave Poncho. He appreciated everything that everyone did for him and the family. Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family.
