Maddox Neumann, a sixth-grader at New London Middle School, reads the poem he wrote to win the title of 2018 Irish Lad. Neumann's piece was about the pride he feels as he stands among a large crowd in a small town on parade day. Irish Lassie Taylor Krause, left, then read her winning composition about being a member of the "mighty mighty" Crain clan and the proud granddaughter of 2015 Irish Man and Rose Dave and Sue Tennie. Krause is a fourth grade student at Greenville Middle School. The students were presented a $50 prize and plaques by Melissa Mulroy, center.

The city of New London – or rather, New Dublin – wrapped up another week of annual St. Patrick’s Day festivities on Saturday, March 17.
The theme for 2018 was “Where the Irish pride is mighty!” All of the traditional events were back this year with the New London sign change on Monday, corned beef and cabbage on Tuesday, Irish caroling at senior living centers on Wednesday, an evening of entertainment on Thursday, a ceili dance on Friday, and finally, the Grand Parade and Irish Fest on Saturday.
The Irish Rose was Arlene Birkholz, the Irish Man Randy Genske and the Grand Marshals Dan and Lovana Rice.
