John “Casey” R. Holmes, age 64, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Appleton, WI.
He was born November 11, 1953 at Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Chicago, IL, son of Wilbur and Carole (Williamson) Holmes. Casey served in the U.S. Army from 1971-1974. He then served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1976-1980 and 1981-1986. On July 4, 1992, Casey married Carol Malliett in Manitowoc, WI. He was a member of the American Legion Post #161 in King and First Baptist Church in Waupaca. Casey will be dearly missed by all of his loving family and many friends.
Casey is survived by his wife, Carol Holmes of Waupaca, WI; a sister, Alyssa Holmes of Auburndale, FL; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leon and Bertha Leeds of Waupaca, WI; and two sisters-in-law, June (Dale) Braker of Freetown, IN and Dawn (Dan) Hirst of Baraboo, WI. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Main Chapel at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. Chaplain Rich Engle will officiate. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Main Chapel. Burial will be at the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King following the service on Tuesday. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
