Investigators are asking for more possible witnesses to come forward regarding a drive-by shooting near Waupaca five years ago.

At 3:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, multiple shots were fired into Wally World from a car driving through the parking lot.

Rickey Stoflet Jr., then age 35, had been working at Wally World that night.

At the time of the shooting, he was standing in an apartment attached to the rear of the bar at N2708 County Road QQ in King.

Stoflet was seriously wounded by a bullet and remained hospitalized for 10 days at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.

Detective Cameron Durrant, with the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, said investigators have interviewed nearly two dozen people and executed multiple search warrants regarding the shooting.

Surveillance video from the parking lot and people who were interviewed helped the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office identify the suspect’s car. It was a beige four-door Chevrolet Impala, which has been taken into evidence.

“Some of the search warrants have resulted in arrests for other offenses,” Durrant said.

Investigators have also identified persons of interest.

A .357 magnum revolver was used to fire a total of eight bullets into the building.

The bullet that hit Stoflet went through the door into the apartment.

“We’re right on that line where it would be nice to have a little bit more information that we could take to court with us,” according to Assistant District Attorney Nick Bolz, who is prosecuting the case.

Anyone with further information about the shooting is asked to contact Durrant at 715-258-4466 or call Crime Stoppers at 888-258-9955 to remain anonymous.
