Jensen, Lucile I.

Lucile I. Jensen, age 96, of Waupaca, WI passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Bethany Home.

Lucile was born in the Town of Waupaca on February 13, 1922, the daughter of the late Arthur and Maytie (Zeller) Johnson. She attended the Townsend School on Highway 49 for Grades 1 -8 and then Waupaca High School, graduating in 1939. On October 23, 1943, Lucile married W. Fred Jensen in Waupaca; he preceded her in death on September 24, 2007. Lucile and Fred farmed in the Town of Farmington for many years. Lucile was involved in the Waupaca County Homemakers, served as a 4-H leader, and was active in the Farmington Lutheran Church for most of her married life. She lived at Park Vista of Waupaca as an independent living resident since May, 2011, and loved participating in bingo there several times each week. Despite having limited vision in her final years, she enjoyed reading, doing Word Search puzzles, and watching her two favorite TV shows – Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. When the weather was good, she was always up for a ride in the countryside around Waupaca.

She is survived by her children: Lee (Jane) Jensen, Wild Rose; Joanne (Tom Harrison) Handler, Edgewater, MD; Mark (Kelly McGinty) Jensen, Waupaca and her six grandchildren: Lucas Jensen, Erica (Brad) McClung, Rachel Jensen, Kate (Ian) Abrey, Lane (Ryan) Handler and Emily Jensen. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Arleen Anderson. Lucile was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; her son, Jim and three sisters, Muriel, Arlene and Norma.

The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, April 4 at 12 noon at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca with Reverend Mark Sabin, officiating. Burial will follow in the Farmington Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Lucile’s name.

The family wishes to thank Park Vista of Waupaca for providing her a comfortable existence during her last seven years. Thanks also to ThedaCare Medical Center of Waupaca and Bethany Home of Waupaca for their care during the final week of her life. Lucile will be remembered fondly as a dear sweet person who loved to play games with her grandchildren, friends, and family.
