Verschage, Lynn M.

Lynn M. Verschage, 61, of Waupaca, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Bethany Home on the morning of Wednesday, April 4, 2018.

Lynn was born September 3, 1956 to Wendell R. and Doris M. (Matson) Hier in Kewanee, IL. She attended Wethersfield High School where she met her sweetheart Michael J. Verschage. Lynn attended Knox College for two years and then married Michael on June 4, 1976 in Kewanee, IL. Lynn and Michael raised three children together in Waupaca, WI where she was an active member of her Immanuel Lutheran Church community, treasurer of the Waupaca Food Bank for many years, and participated in church and community choirs. In her free time, Lynn enjoyed games, especially word games and crossword puzzles and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Lynn took residence at Bethany Home Waupaca in 2009 due to medical issues and enjoyed spending time with the staff and residents and participating in the many activities there, including a newfound passion for ping pong. Lynn’s bright and caring personality drew people to her wherever she went and she will be dearly missed.

Lynn is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Michael; son Daniel (Julie) Verschage of Monroe, WI; daughter-in-law Andrea (Bradley) Verschage of Brown Deer, WI; daughter Andra (Ryan) Revak, of Manitowoc, WI; grandchildren: Kyler Smith, Ayla Revak, Steven Verschage, Braden Revak, Bryan Revak; father Wendell R. Hier of Kewanee, IL; twin sister Lea (Kent) West; brother Matthew (Debbie) Hier, and many nieces and nephews. Lynn is preceded in death by her mother, Doris M. Hier, and her son Bradley D. Verschage.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waupaca; Rev. Ron Siemers will officiate. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Lynn’s name can be made to Bethany Home or the Waupaca Area Food Bank. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Bethany Home for their years of care, attention, and friendship.
