UPDATE: Child porn suspect back in jail

A man who skipped court after he posted a $10,000 cash bond turned himself in to police.

Matthew A. Young, 36, New London, is now being held in custody on a $25,000 cash bond after he forfeited a $10,000 cash bond.

He is scheduled for an adjourned initial apprearance before Judge Vicki Clussman on May 29.

Young is charged with five counts of possession of child pornography and one count each of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Friday, May 4, Waupaca County deputies and officers with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at Young’s home. They seized a computer.

Investigators had used software that allows them to target IP addresses that download child porn through file sharing programs.

According to the criminal complaint, Young allegedly downloaded digital files depicting children between the ages of 11 and 15.

At a magistrate’s hearing on May 4, Judge Troy Nielsen set a $10,000 cash bond.

On Monday, May 7, the bond was posted by a relative, and then Young missed his initial court appearance.

Nielsen ordered that the bond be forfeited and issued a warrant for Young’s arrest.

Young faces up to 20 years in prison on each count of possession of child porn if convicted.
