Dobberstein, Vivian H.

Vivian Hazel Irene Dobberstein, age 96, of Shawano passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018, to be with her husband in heaven.

She was born on March 7, 1922 in New London, Wisconsin to the late Albert and Caroline (Dingeldein) Arndt; and was the youngest of five children. Vivian attended Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran grade school in New London and graduated from New London High School. After graduation, she worked for an attorney and at Borden Milk Products in New London. Vivian was united in marriage to Lee Dobberstein on May 2, 1943. They were blessed with three children; Diane, Steven (Mary) and David (Shelly). Together they lived in New London, Hortonville, Jefferson, and Waupaca before finally settling in Shawano. She was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church, altar guild and the church choir. She enjoyed singing alto in Sweet Adelines. Vivian sold Viking Sewing Machines from her home and conducted sewing classes. For many years Vivian and Lee enjoyed being part of a card club. They often enjoyed traveling, either by car, motorhome or bus. They traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Nova Scotia, Hawaii, Germany and Sweden. At home they enjoyed their pontoon rides on the Wolf River and Shawano Lake. She was instrumental in setting up the Shawano Hospital auxiliary gift shop. Vivian was a very talented artist. Her many oil paintings and ornaments are treasured by her family. She loved her family and wanted us to love one another. She was our angel on earth and now she is our angel in heaven.

Vivian is survived by: her children, Diane Dobberstein of Green Bay, Steven (Mary) Dobberstein of Shawano and David (Shelly) Dobberstein of Shawano; six grandchildren, Todd (Jill) Dobberstein, Erin (Cory) Klement, Leah (Dave) Passehl, Zach, Lydia and Sam Dobberstein; nine great-grandchildren, Lexi Dobberstein, Anika, Julia, Isaac, and Amelia Klement, Faith, Elijah, Gabby and Charlotte Passehl; as well as nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee; her parents and siblings, Ray, Grace, Walter and Margaret.

Funeral services for Vivian will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at St. James Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Pockat officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in New London. Visitation will be held at church on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Memorial may be given to St. James Lutheran School.
