Danes Hall topic of program

This 1938 picture of the Danes Home is from the Waupaca Historical Society’s collection.

Michael Koehler will present “Danes Hall: Past, Present and Future” at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Holly History and Genealogy Center, in Waupaca.

The program will take place in the lower level of the center, which is located at 321 S. Main St.

The Koehler family’s ancestors emigrated from Denmark to Waupaca in the 1870s.

In 2016, the family purchased the Danes Hall, at 301 N. Main St., in Waupaca.

They are currently restoring the building.

Built in 1894, the Danes Hall was home to the Danes Home Society until 1945 and has since served as a tin shop and antique mall.

Koehler’s program will feature the history of the building, the current status of its restoration and plans for the future.
