A 24-year-old Hortonville man died after Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office said he lay on a railroad track and was struck by a train.
The collision happened before 5:30 a.m. Thursday, June 7, in the area of Shaky Lake Road north of State Highway 96 in the town of Dale.
A witness told sheriff’s deputies the man exited his vehicle before lying down on the track where a Canadian National train hit him, Staff Sgt. Ryan Carpenter stated in a news release.
ThedaStar helicopter flew the man to a hospital where he later died.
The sheriff’s office has not released the identity of the man.
Dale Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
