Driver faces fifth OWI

Officer says suspect blew .23 BAC

Michael P. Viljevac, 57, Manawa, is charged with a fifth drunken driving offense and operating after revocation.

He was also cited for refusing to be tested for intoxication.

At 11:38 a.m. Thursday, June 28, Waupaca County Deputy Pete Kraeger was northbound on Depot Street in Manawa when he saw a minivan make an illegal U-turn in front of him.

Kraeger also noticed the driver and his passenger were not wearing seat belts.

According to the criminal complaint, the driver, identified as Viljevac, smelled of alcohol. His eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slurred.

A preliminary breath test indicated Viljevac had a .23 blood-alcohol content.

Viljevac had four prior drunken driving convictions between 1989 and 2016.

His license was revoked for 24 months on June 29, 2016, and has not been reinstated.

Viljevac faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of a fifth OWI.
