Officers find pot plants, loaded gun

Two men face charges after officers executed a warrant at a home in Waupaca.

Drayall S. Matenaer, 24, was charged with felony child neglect, maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tavin S. Matenaer, 23, was charged with felony bail jumping and possession of marijuana as party to a crime.

On July 2, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Drayall Matenaer’s home on Ware Street. A 2-year-old child was in the house, along with Drayall and Tavin Matenaer.

Officers found 28 grams of marijuana growing in an empty room, plus pot and paraphernalia in the living room.

They also found a loaded handgun on a coffee table in a bedroom. The hammer was cocked.

According to the criminal complaint, both the gun and the marijuana were easily accessible to the child.

On March 29, Tavin Matenaer was charged with possession of narcotics as party to a crime.

He failed to appear for a court summons on May 1 and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On June 18, Tavin Matenaer made his initial court appearance and was released from custody on a $2,000 signature bond the following day.

On June 27, he was charged with delivery of a prescription drug as party to a crime and released from custody on a $2,500 signature bond.

Five days later, he was charged again, following the search of Drayall Matenaer’s home.

Tavin remains in custody on a $1,500 cash bond.

Drayall was released from custody on a $2,500 signature bond.
