Man accused of domestic abuse

Text messages seen as threatening

Christopher M. Fisher, 31, Waupaca, is charged with felony intimidation of a witness, disorderly conduct as an act of domestic abuse and criminal damage to property.

According to the criminal complaint, Fisher’s wife told Waupaca police he yelled at her and broke things in the house after she told him their relationship was over.

She said Fisher left the house on Friday, Jan. 12, and did not return home that night or the following day.

Around 9 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 13, she texted Fisher and said she did not want him to come home.

She then put her 8-year-old son to bed and fell asleep with her 9-month-old child on the bed.

Around 3 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, the woman woke up with Fisher sitting on the bed, poking her.

Fisher allegedly began yelling at her for putting his things out on the patio.

She replied it was not right for him to leave the family for days and not come home. She told him that he needed to leave.

She told police Fisher tore things off the wall, knocked over a nightstand and broke a TV.

Later, she showed police text messages Fisher allegedly sent.

A message at 6:30 p.m. Sunday read: “What did I do for u to call the cops huh?”

At 7:07 p.m., a message read: “You’re so pathetic, don’t forget they can’t keep me locked up forever. You’ll see me at some point that’s a promise.”

At 8:31 p.m., a message read, in part: “I promise you this car will be totaled by the time I ever give it back to you.”

Fisher is scheduled for his initial court appearance on Aug. 7.

Due to a prior conviction of maintaining a drug trafficking place in August 2015, Fisher is charged as a repeat offender.

If convicted of felony intimidation, Fisher faces up to 10 years in prison and an enhanced sentence of two more years as a repeater.
