WHS orientation

Waupaca High School will offer two orientation classes in August.

The district encourages all freshmen and new students to take advantage of one or both of the opportunities.

WHS Survivor is a one-week class running Monday through Friday, Aug. 13-17, during three time slots: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1 p.m.. to 3 p.m.

The class will familiarize students with the high school building and people who work in it, their lockers and schedules, the activities available, plus the study skills and time management techniques necessary to achieve their goals.

Freshman Link Crew Orientation will be from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at the high school.

This event is part of the nationwide Link Crew Program, an organization whose sole purpose is to help freshmen feel more comfortable, as well as help them achieve success in their first year of high school.

The Link Crew freshman orientation and transition program is designed to welcome and support freshmen by assigning them a junior or senior Link Leader who will serve as a mentor during their first year.

This Link Leader is an upperclassman who has met the qualifications of being a role model and positive leader.

Lunch will be provided at no cost to students on Orientation Day, and buses will provide transportation to and from the event.

WHS will host an Activity Fair in the commons at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 30, immediately following the Link Leader program.

Parents and students may attend the Activity Fair, and students may gather information and sign up for various activities.

Registration for both WHS Survivor and Link Crew Orientation is available via a Waupaca School District Google Form , through the district website, or by calling the high school’s main office at 715-258-4131.
