Fire truck in crash

Three people were injured when a vehicle crashed into a Waupaca fire truck shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, July 29.

The fire truck was on an eastbound lane of U.S. Highway 10, just west of an earlier crash scene near Morgan Drive in the town of Farmington.

The truck had its emergency lights activated in order to warn motorists to slow down.

According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, a 48-year-old man drove a sports utility vehicle into the back of the fire truck.

The driver of the SUV suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.

Two Waupaca firefighters sustained minor injuries, but were not hospitalized.

There was extensive damage to the fire truck.

No further information has been released. The crash is still under investigation.
