Woman charged with burglary

Resident said he found suspect in his kitchen.

Amybeth M. Marlega, 42, Manawa, is charged with burglary, theft and misdemeanor bail jumping.

On Tuesday, Aug. 7, Waupaca Police Officer Sam Van Dinter spoke to a man living on Fifth Street who said he had been napping when he heard a noise.

When he checked on the noise, he found an uninvited woman in his kitchen. He said the woman looked startled and ran.
The man noticed his wallet was missing so he chased and caught the woman.

The woman threatened to yell “rape.” He said, “Go ahead, I want the police.”

She gave the man his wallet and fled.

Marlega has multiple prior contacts with law enforcement.

On Oct. 2, 2017, Marlega was convicted of misdemeanor bail jumping and disorderly conduct. She was placed on one year of probation, with 120 days in jail imposed and stayed.

On Jan. 3, Marlega was charged with theft and released on a $1,000 signature bond.

On Jan. 18, Marlega’s probation was revoked, a warrant was issued for her arrest and her 120-day jail sentence imposed.

On June 25, she was charged with theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor bail jumping. She was released from custody on a $1,000 signature bond.

After she appeared in court on Monday, Aug. 13, Marlega was released on a $2,000 signature bond.

She faces up to 12 1/2 years in prison if convicted of burglary
