Buchman, Judith E.

Judith E. Buchman, age 75 of Hortonville, passed away peacefully at home her home on August 23, 2018.

Judy was born at home on February 4, 1943 in Mattoon, Wisconsin. She was the fourth born among seven children. She attended Mattoon High School and was the salutatorian of her class. After high school, she moved to Milwaukee and worked at Allen Bradley. It was while working there that Judy met and married the love of her life, Robert Buchman. They were united in marriage at St. Robert’s Church in Shorewood, Wisconsin on November 19, 1966. Judy’s true calling in life was to be a mom. Early in life she helped to mother her younger sisters. Later, Judy and Bob built a life that focused on family. Together, they gave their four children a wonderful childhood. Judy found great pleasure in providing home cooked meals for her family. With Bob often working out of town, Judy was able to stay at home while her young family was growing. She was an active member of Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville and volunteered many hours at the school. In later years, Judy enjoyed reupholstering furniture as well as bartending at the Dugout Bar and The Country Club, both in Hortonville. As grandchildren came along, she worked in the cafeteria at Hortonville Middle School, and was fondly remembered as “The Shake Lady”. Judy and Bob shared a passion for old cars and street rods. They were both long time members of Fox Valley Street Rod Association. After Bob’s retirement, they enjoyed driving to car shows as far away as Pennsylvania and Florida. Judy was always very social and loved being with friends. Judy’s friends will remember her for the good times they shared snowmobiling, bowling, and playing bingo or sheepshead. Everyone seemed to know her and loved to be in her company. Judy’s personality was remarkable and most will not forget her sense of humor and affinity for old fashioneds.
