List, Drusilla (Fenn)

Drusilla (Esther Laverne) (Fenn) List, age 94, died Monday, August 27, 2018 at Tivoli in Portage, WI.

Dru was born to Oren and Esther (Timmel) Fenn on August 12, 1924 in the Town of Matteson, Waupaca County, WI. She was baptized into Christ Jesus on August 31, 1924 by Rev. Stubenvoll and confirmed into the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod at Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass, WI by Rev. Walter List on October 17, 1937, where she would remain a member for the next 82 years. She graduated from Clintonville Senior High School in 1942 and was employed by the FWD from that year throughout the World War II years. She later worked for the Montgomery Ward catalog store in Clintonville for a number of years before beginning her career at the Embarrass State Bank, at times managing the bank, then as a banking office manager after it was purchased by Citizen’s Bank Shawano, then returning and working part-time until it was purchased by Associated Bank Green Bay, serving as a teller until the year 2000. Dru was married to Arnold (Arnie) List on February 11, 1945 after he served in the South Pacific and in the US Bond Tour. They enjoyed a week of marriage before Arnie returned to the war serving in Germany, the European Theater and North Africa, receiving his discharge and returning to the states in 1946. Their marriage was blessed with three children, their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They lived in the village of Embarrass for the majority of their married life where in 1979 they moved to their home on the Embarrass River. Their hospitality was shared with everyone who stopped by to visit, share a story or sample some of the delicious meals, desserts and the “world famous” Dru’s Dill Pickles”. Many happy times and special memories were shared with Dru’s sisters, Angie, Ceona and Maralda and their spouses, as well as sisters-in-law, Bardie and Dolly and their husbands. Arnie died on May 2, 1996. Dru continued to live at her residence until April of 2017, when she moved to be with her daughter, Becky Williams, and her husband, Chuck, on Park Lake in Pardeeville, WI. She enjoyed her vacations to Florida and Mexico with Becky and Chuck in the winter and the pontoon rides on the lake in the afternoon. They provided care for her (along with Barb), at their home until she requested to move to a nursing facility in early August. Dru’s faith was very important to her as shown by her devotion to Zion Lutheran Church in Embarrass, where she served on the Ladies Aide, the Altar Guild, LWML and weekly Bible studies over the course of her life. She recently attended St. John’s Lutheran Church Portage where she met many new friends. The family deeply appreciates the pastoral care Mom received from Pastors Hovland and Armon and their efforts over the past months in serving her.

Surviving family members are: Al and Sue List (Meghan), Becky and Chuck Williams, Barb and Bill Billingsley (Becca and Travis Novy and their children Amelia, Lydia, Bennett and Tanner), (Christopher and Hannah Fenn and their children Silas, Asa and Levi), (Matthew and Jena and their child Henry and Simon to come), and (AJ and his children Jameson and Forrest).

A memorial service at Zion Lutheran Church is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1st, visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Todd Jerabek officiating. In lieu of flowers, Dru’s wishes were that any donations would be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass, WI. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville is assisting her family.
