McGlinch, Charles

Charles A. McGlinch, 97, peacefully walked into the arms of his loving wife, Jane on September 3, 2018.

Chuck grew up in Jackson, Michigan, the only son of Charles Coburn and Mary Lee McGlinch. Following high school graduation, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945. His military career as an air transportation technician was based out of Cairo, Egypt. He flew extensively throughout the Middle East and was present at the Yalta Conference at the end of WWII. He retired as a Staff Sargent earning the WWII Victory Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. After the war he married Jane Elizabeth Halcott, his “west-side girl.” Their marriage of almost sixty-five years lasted until Jane’s passing in 2011. He is a graduate of Michigan State in Hotel/Motel management. Chuck managed numerous establishments around the country including the Madison Club from 1956 to 1963. Chuck and Jane moved to Waupaca in 1988 and lived here since. Chuck resided and was well provided for at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in King, WI for the past seven years.

Chuck’s loving family includes his four daughters, Kathy, Mary, Maureen and Monica, his 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, his brother-in-law, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

This McGlinch family legacy of love and laughter will continue with their blessings. Family was the highlight of his life.

A memorial service will be held at the Wisconsin Veterans Home Main Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday September 8, 2018. The Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
